Frantic Wednesday!

Why did I call this a frantic Wednesday, well it just turned out this way. I thought today was free, no afterschool activity, and then dot called and asked if they could go to the Youth Ministry Center (YMC). So I let them. Then hubby called, did I go to the "tool show" at the edge of town, and buy the portable car port, ie, shade for camping trips? Anyway... easy afternoon, turned into, I need my kids home... and now!!!

April Fool's Pie

"Oh, it's April Fool's Day" says Mikaela while sitting at the breakfast table. "I know Mama will make us something neat for dinner." Oh boy, how would I ever pull this one off. With lessons, and T-ball this evening, how would I ever (the always last minute mama) make something great for April Fools Day's dinner?

After scanning the internet for a neat dinner idea, I found this pie on Family Fun's website, called Fauxberry Pie http://jas.familyfun.go.com/recipefinder/display?id=50523. It looked easy and sounded like something the kids would enjoy. Well, they did, except for the mashed potatoes, Jack just smooshed his up, and then proceeded to stand up in his chair to get out. The big kids him'd and haw'd at it, and eventually ate it. Oh well, maybe next year we'll have a better April Fool! :)

Cultures

I just found out about this giveaway, and so I decided to post it on my new blog. We used to make kefir, and buttermilk, yogurt, etc., before moving to Moulton. John loved the kefir. I liked cooking with it. I would love to try other cultures and move more into cultured foods.

I would love to learn how to make sourdough bread. Mainly because I've tried several times and failed, and my husband wants me to make it for him. :)
